Lisa Bates’ artistic practice deals primarily with themes of memory, time and temporality, with a particular focus on human connections to place and the experiential landscape. Ambiguous and poetic narratives are created through layering within mediums such as sound, video, installation, text and collage, inspired particularly by the Kent coastline on which she grew up, and the Oxfordshire landscape she is now based in.
Lisa not only works closely with the community through a number of these processes, but also facilitates others’ participation in the arts and creativity, through her active and developing community arts practice. She is a Bronze and Silver Arts Award Adviser, has training in support work, first aid and safeguarding, and a Level1 qualification in British Sign Language.
